Everyone says "parenting takes a villiage." But what if no one in your village speaks the same language (autism) as you? Has the same challenges as you? Has the same fears as you? We will be part of your village. Your partners in validating and addressing your worries about the future, communicating with and about your child to other family members, and balancing being supportive while also encouraging them to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
LIFE LAB Workshops are a series of twelve, 4-hour courses which aim to help older autistic teens and young adults develop valuable skills meaningful to them. Whether it is eating healthier, find a job, or living independently for the first time, these courses will provide multiple opportunities for goal setting, a structured and visual learning process, follow up action itemand celebration of success. Our hope is that the participants will make new connections enjoy the process of “adulting”.
Choose a LIFE LAB topic from below for your individual or family coaching. Workshops are offered monthly and cover one LIFE LAB per session.
A practical and engaging experience for all! Participants will plan meals, budget, create a personalized recipe book, prep and cook, and more. The focus is on making more healthy plant-based choices and trying new foods.
Building relationships as an adult can be challenging. This course explores the “ups and downs” of ongoing, healthy relationships, as well as developing strategies to improve any relationships you want to see grow. This LIFE LAB can assist with sibling, friend, romantic, coworker, and/or family relationships.
High school graduation is over. What’s next? This course is designed to honestly assess present levels of flexibility, motivation, and communication. Participants will create a personalized plan for education or classes necessary to meet their goals.
Planning a day balanced with work, family, community, and fun can be overwhelming. Routines can be hard to break. Participants will develop new pastimes and interests for their own enjoyment or to enjoy them with others.
Need to make money? Looking to apply for a job? Do you have a dream career in mind? Let’s match what you like to do, to what you can do. This course guides participants in following a path from idea to implementation.
This course is all about participants understanding and communicating their strengths, needs, thoughts, and ideas. This understanding leads to confidence in self-advocacy and in making informed decisions for themselves.
Participants who want to live on their own now or in the future, this course is perfect! It includes self-assessment of independent living skills so participants can plan for that exciting next step in an adult life!
Ahhh... self-care. Physical, emotional, spiritual, personal, professional, and psychological stressors are all part of life. Once we can identify them, we can start creating strategies that will help keep our anxiety and depression in check. We are all different and this LIFE LAB reflects our individuality by developing a specific "tool box" for each participant.

Whether it is repairing a flat tire, or finding a place to game with friends, Community Lab allows participants to gain familiarity with the businesses, organizations, and activities nearby to build confidence and connections with the community.
Conversations, conflict management, electronic communication, humor, and understanding another's perspective are a few of the social skills covered in this LIFE LAB. Since the groups are small, we will cater this lab to the topic YOU find to be the most challenging.

Next, we will help you find the time in your week that you can commit to on a regular basis. Finally, it is all about accountability. Whether it is a buddy you make in this LIFE LAB, or someone out in the community, finding a "Fit Friend" will set you up for success!
This lab is all about managing money. Spending is the easy part! Budgeting, saving, paying bills, investing, and knowing who can be trusted can be overwhelming tasks. Learning ways to make this an easier process leads to empowerment and security.
